PTI Nature Challenge

Where is this month going? My term as January's feature stamper over on A Passion for Papertrey is almost coming to an end :( This is my last challenge submission, as a feature stamper (I'll still be entering as often as I can) the current challenge is to create a card or project with a nature element to it, this is what I made ...


Stamps: Everyday Button Bits, Giga Guidelines
Cardstock: Plum Pudding, Sweetblush, Dark Chocolate
DSP: Guidelines Mediums: Old Olive, Lavender Lace (SU), Versomark
Embellishments: Plum pudding ½”luxe satin ribbon (a la Monica), SquareBrad (Craftwork), Buttons from stash. Tools - Paper cutter and scorer, Snail adhesive, Nestabilities (Labels 1).

It was my first easel card (although I have made several this month, this one was made right at the beginning of the month in readiness for this challenge) I can tell you I'm hooked, well and truly, I can't believe how easy they are, and they look stunning, or at least this one does. If I can bear to part with it, I'm going to save this one until April for my Mum's birthday, I just know she'll love it, and purple is her favourite colour.

I used a piece of Plum Pudding cardstock for the bottom/stand.

For the top, I cut dark 3-3/4 x 3-3/4 dark chocolate and 3-5/8 x3-5/8 sweetblush, I stamped giga guidelines randomly in clear versomark over the sweetblush. I used the the flower stems from 'Everyday Button Bits', its stamped in Old Olive on Whisper White. I pulled out my Nestabilities (labels 1) and measured out two of them, cut out a smaller nestie around my flowers, and another one size larger in plum pudding cardstock.

I then sewed the button holes of colour co-ordintated buttons and adhered them to the flower stems and adhered both to my piece of sweetblush.



For the bottom/stand, I measured a piece of guidelines designer paper to leave a few mm around the edge and adhered to the base. I then cut another piece of cardstock in dark chocolate for a mat and layered a piece of sweetblush over for my sentiment.

The ribbon was tied 'a la Monica', I found the centre of the top of the sentiment layer and pierced a hole for the brad on the ribbon. I attached the ribbon via the brad and tidied up the ends. I stamped the sentiment in Lavender Lace, set the card straight and that was it, beautiful ...

Thank You Card & Gift in One.

 

I had to make a thank you card this week along with a small thank you gift so I thought I'd combine the two using one of Jenny Moors’ classes.

I had so much fun making this little beauty, which is really just an easel card on top of a matchbox – I can’t wait to start playing again to make some more …

This is the first time I’ve opened up the package of Nouveau Chic Designer Paper, I thought it was a bit ‘dark’, but now that I have I can see so many possibilities for it …

I’ve filled the drawer up with chocolate (what else?) but you could make up little matching notecards or a small memo block/post it pad.

So my two projects, both using Good Neighbours

First, a double scrapbook page using Good Neighbors a set comprising 3 houses, 3 roofs, 3 trees and a cloud ...

Stamps: Good Neighbours (SAB), Big Deal Alphabet
Mediums: Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Really Rust
Embellishments: 5/8" Chocolate Chip & More Mustard 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Flower Fusion felt flowers, Filigree designer brad, Vintage & Circle fire rhinestone brads.
Tools - Paper cutter and scorer, Snail adhesive, Scallop Edge punch, Paper piercer, Stamp-a-ma-jig.

It was a great excuse to use every stamp in the box! And of course some of my favourite stash, I seriously love those flower fusion felt flowers, they are so easy to work with, and that filigree designer brad {swoon} I had to force myself to add it to the page - I like to sit and stroke them - they are gorgeous!! I stamped the houses using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the roofs and trees - This piece of kit is a MUST HAVE once you own it you'll wonder what you ever did without it.

And for my second project, a reasonably quick and simple card ...

Cardstock: Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Sahara Sand
Stamps: Good Neighbours (SAB)
Mediums: Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Really Rust, Bordering Blue
Embellishments: 1" Double Stitched Chocolate Chip & 5/8" Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, Linen thread, Latte Design Button.
Tools - Paper cutter and scorer, Snail adhesive, Mat Pack & Paper piercer, Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Again I've used stash that I've been hording, I love that double stitched ribbon and try to save it for special occasions - what am I like!!

Forbidden Fruits.

Week 2 of 2010 and I’ve completed another layout!!!

The challenge over on UKS was set (last Monday) by the Twilight Addicts, the main theme was Forbidden Fruits, we also had to use ribbons and either blossoms or bling on our layout ...I spent almost a week thinking about it, I really struggled, I didn’t have a clue …. forbidden fruits ...

This is what I came up with

Cardstock: Black polka dot embossed (unknown - stash)
DSP: Rose Red Designer Series Paper
Stamps: Queued Up (Hostess), Polka Dot Punches (2009 SAB)
Mediums: Creamy Caramel
Embellishments: Cherished Memories rub-ons, Ribbon (stash), Filigree designer brad, Circle fire rhinestone brads.
Tools - Paper cutter and scorer, Snail adhesive, Corner rounder punch, Paper piercer, Stamp-a-ma-jig.

What do you think? I managed to get the ribbon and the bling on there AND I’m keeping to my resolution of a layout every week :O)

SWU - Sketch Challenge.

This weeks Stamp With Us challenge is a sketch challenge, we had a sketch (see below) to work from, once again I've reached for one of my stampin up stamp sets, whimisical wings (hostess set) and worked in one of my favourite colour combinations regal rose and chocolate chip, here is my card ...



Recipe:
Stamps: Whimsical Wings (L2 hostess), circle of friendship
Cardstock: Chocolate chip, regal rose, whisper white
DSP: chocolate chip patterns
Mediums: Chocolate chip, regal rose
Embellishments: Latte designer buttons, Ribbon from stash! Should have been 5/8” regal rose but I’ve run out!
Tools - Paper cutter and scorer, Snail adhesive, 1” circle, 1-1/4 circle, 1-3/8 circle, circle scallop, eyelet border punches. Mat pack & Paper-piercing tool, stamp-a-ma-jig.

PTI Notebook

As some of you know I was chosen as feature stamper over on A Passion for Papertrey for January and one of the responsibilities of feature stamper is to take part in the challenges. Well the first challenge has been set for 2010 and the challenge is to create a card or project with an embossed image, this is what I made ...

Stamps: Giga Guidelines, Take Note Cardstock: Dark Chocolate, Berry Sorbet

DSP: Bitty Dots, Everyday Blessings

Mediums: Staz-on, Chocolate Chip (SU), Embossing Stamp pad

Embellishments: Aqua Mist button, Berry Sorbet ½" luxe satin ribbon

Tools - Paper cutter and scorer, Snail adhesive, Heat gun, Clear embossing power.

I really love making these notebooks, I not made one yet that I've really not wanted to give away ...

For this one I started out with a piece of dark chocolate cardstock, measured 21.5cm x 20.5cm scored at 7cm, 7.5cm and 14.5cm (along the 21.5cm edge). I then use a small plate to mark a nice curve for the inside pocket and cut. Nichol Heady has a template here but you might have to fiddle to get the measurements to fit.

For the front cover, I stamped one of the images from giga guidelines with versamark ink onto berry sorbet, and then sprinkled liberly with clear embossing powder. Heat set with a heat gun. I then sponged chocolate chip ink in small circular movements over the image (remembering to wipe the images clean). This really makes the images pop! I then cut another piece of berry sorbet 21cm x 6.6cm for the mat layer on the front cover, and stuck this down. I cut my embossed cardstock to size along with some bitty dots designer paper and adhered those to my mat layer. I cut a piece of Everyday Blessings to size and adhered that into place.

I inked up 'notes' from the 'Take Notes' stamp set with chocolate chip and stamped my image down the side for added interest.

The ribbon was tied 'a la Monica' but instead of using a brad I sewed on an Aqua Mist button.


Inside the notebook I decorated the pocket with the left overs/scraps from the front cover, to add interest I stamped a paperclip and a pointing finger, then all I had left to do was adhere the pad to the notebook.

I really enjoyed my first project as feature stamper, I hope you like it - please leave me some feedback - let me know what you think.
