Papertrey Challenge 6 - Recycle

Busy day today, my third post in one day!

My good friend Steph sent me some Papertrey stash to play with the other week, today was the first chance I had to play with it - its GreeeeeaaaaaaaaaatttT - Only thing I have to do now is return the stamps :( don't worry Steph I took care of them like they were my babies ;0) They are on my birthday list, but unfortunately they are now a bit further down the list, after the Pandora Bracelet I MUST have LOL

This is what I created for the Papertrey Challenge

The challenge was to make a card that uses at least one recycled element on it, I did have ONE recycled element, which was the button, which came from an item of clothing. I always remove the buttons and hanging ribbons before throwing clothing out, never know what I can use on a card or a layout ;0)

I also tried to pick out the glitter in the button by randomly spreading glitter on the blooms, not sure if you can see in the photo?

Recipe:

Stamps: PTI Spiral Bouquet, sentiment from stash
Cardstock: PTI (but unsure which colour - one of the pinks)
DSP: PTI Pink Patterns
Ribbon: PTI
Brads: Colour Matched from stash
Ink: SU Cameo Coral, Regal Rose, Certainly Celery
Stickles: Icicle

On Friday I discovered ...

The Glitterpot and Paula Pascual ... WOW

I signed up for both a creative die cutting and a creative embossing class - and let me tell you, I'm hooked. The projects Paula had prepared were fantastic

Creative Die Cutting

I can't remember which die we used but it is so pretty, don't you think ...

then we used up all the left over hearts on this lovely card ...

During the afternoon we we made this card using Pebbles papers, Cuttlebug: Butterfly combo set, Just my Type embossing border, Messages in circles Birthday

and for my favourite card of the day we used Pebbles papers, Cuttlebug embossing folders and Nestabilities large rectangle scallop die for the rosette.

I had a fabulous day, as an introduction to die cutting it was great and I'll definately sign up for more classes, I know I'll never stop learning when it comes to crafting. It was my first visit to The Glitter Pot but it certainly won't be my last, FANTASTIC SHOP in the words of Arnie - I WILL BE BACK ;0)

ILWS Card Swap 6

Another card for a swap on ILWS, for group 2, I have completed the cards for group 1, but as they haven’t received them yet I will wait to post the piccies ;0)

This is a variation on a card I made way back in January which is a variation of the card on the front of the Stampin Up catalogue, I love the patchwork look!

I used:

Stamps: Thanks so Much from Greets Eight (Mini Catalogue)

Card Stock: Chocolate Chip

Designer Series Paper: Washington Apple (Mini Catalogue)

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Ribbon: Chocolate Chip Taffeta

Brads: Silver Brad from the Stampin Up Hodgepodge Hardware Collection

Punch: Scallop Edge

Supplies: Clear Embossing Powder, Stamp-a-ma-jig

It was a reasonably easy card to make and didn’t use as much designer series paper and cardstock as it looks.

1. First cut your cardstock to form A6 card

2. Then cut 7 different 45mm squares from the designer series papers

3. Decide which is going to be your ‘backing’ designer series paper and cut another piece 90mm x 30mm – now punch along the long edge using the scallop punch

4. Now select one of the lighter squares, and using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up your stamp, stamp your image, cover with clear embossing powder, tap away excess and heat to emboss.

5. Take your 45mm backing DSP, and a co-ordinating 45mm DSP, place the co-ordinating DSP over the backing DSP. Adhere the two pieces of paper together on two right-angle edges only.

6. Fold the top right hand edge over, pierce a hole using a paper piercer and insert a co-ordinating brad.

7. Select 45mm square to wrap co-ordinating ribbon round, using double sided sticky tape to secure – You could tie a knot or bow for added interest.

8. Arrange your 45mm squares and scallop edge and adhere to cardstock.

I've received all the cards in the swap now, will take some photos this afternoon and post them tomorrow.

ILWS Colour Challenge 257

The colour challenge over on ILWS this week is using

Basic Black

Basic Grey

Rose Red

Yoyo Yellow

Blame these colours on a meeting I was in last week , I was staring out the window - as you do, and they were on the building/factory opposite, they looked quite pretty (in an industrial way) so I was determined to use them. What do you think? Do they work?

If you do take part in this challenge on ILWS please quote ILWSCC257 when uploading this challenge. This is the card I made

Stamps: Fresh Cuts
Cardstock: Basic Black, Basic Grey, Yoyo Yellow, Rose Red
Designer Series Paper: Rose Red
Ink: Basic Black, Rose Red, Yoyo Yellow
Brads: Basic Black (from vintage collection)
